About Us

West African Green Energy Development Organisation (WAGEDO)

The West African Green Energy Development Organisation (WAGEDO) is a youth-led organisation founded by H2 students of the International Program in Energy and Hydrogen at WASCAL, driven by a shared commitment to addressing global energy challenges. What began as a student initiative has since grown into an officially registered international organisation dedicated to tackling pressing energy issues, with a particular focus on West Africa. Our mission is to build skills, actively participate on the policy making, boost the understanding of sustainable development that offers policy relevant path to underpin prosperity of clean energy, create jobs and enhances social equity in West Africa.

    WAGEDO (West African Grand Energy Development Organization) is a regional organization committed to advancing sustainable energy development and the energy transition in West Africa. It promotes renewable energy, energy access, capacity building, and regional cooperation to support inclusive and sustainable development.

    WAGEDO’s objectives include promoting universal access to clean energy, supporting renewable energy deployment, strengthening capacity building and youth engagement, and contributing to policy dialogue and regional cooperation in the energy sector.

    Membership in WAGEDO is open to individuals, professionals, students, researchers, and organizations who share the organization’s vision and values in advancing sustainable energy and development in West Africa. Membership modalities and requirements are defined by WAGEDO’s internal guidelines.

    Interested individuals or organizations can apply for membership through the Membership section of the website or by contacting WAGEDO directly using the official contact details provided. Applications are reviewed in line with the organization’s membership procedures.

    WAGEDO is governed by an Executive Committee and operates in accordance with its statutes and internal regulations. The governance structure ensures transparency, accountability, and effective leadership in implementing the organization’s mission and activities.

    WAGEDO implements and supports projects related to renewable energy deployment, energy access, capacity building, research, innovation, and community-based initiatives. Projects may be developed independently or in partnership with public, private, and development stakeholders.
